Elvis Presley made the song “Hound Dog” famous, but it wasn’t written for him.

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller gave the song to Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton in 1952.

But it was Freddie Bell and the Bell Boys who replaced the racy words with the ridiculous, since some of the lyrics were questionable for the time.

It was a crowd pleaser when they performed the song in Las Vegas back in 1956.

That’s also where Elvis heard the song, liked it, then asked if he could record it.

And to this day, everyone still knows and sings the song, even kids.

Now check out these three adorable kids who took to the stage just to dance to the catchy classic.

Who better to make a song famous but the King himself?

Look at those costumes and tell me they’re not cute!

There’s nothing like allowing kids to express themselves through song and dance.

It builds up confidence, hones their motor skills, and gives them an avenue to channel all their energy, so parents take note.

Tell them they danced to Elvis, show them who he is, and tell them how much of an icon he is.

Who knows if one of those kids finds inspiration and gets into rock and roll.

The dance steps are not too difficult, which makes sense for kids but you have to respect the choreographer for adding in elements from the era of when the song came out.

The little guy is a gymnast too!

“This was adorable. I love that they let the little guy use his gymnastic skills.” praised a happy viewer.

“Hound Dog” is so versatile, people dance the song to different styles.

So if you can, and if you have the skills, maybe you could come up with your own dance for it!

Maybe there’s a reason the little guy is front and center. He’s good!

The two little girls can dance, and they do a good job of carrying the song, but this young man may have a future!

Now there are many Elvis impersonators out there, but maybe he can come up with his own style.

Rachel Garcia is impressed, commenting,

“A lot to memorize. Pretty good job for that age.”

That’s how you know a child has the talent.

All they need is help and more training.

It’s great that we still have people willing to let kids express themselves through the arts instead of leaving them alone with a gadget.

The internet can do more harm than good when not supervised by an adult.

And besides, dancing is way more fun!
